Dr Silvia Serio, medical director of the
Ayurveda Center of
Hotel Caesius Thermae & SPA Resort, introduces herself and tells us about the unique health approach of Ayurveda, which is authentically performed with great professionalism in our center.
Who is Dr Silvia Serio?
“I graduated in medicine and surgery in 2005 and finished my specialization in occupational medicine in 2009.
I worked as a locum medical practitioner and a doctor on call. Since my specialization, I have worked as a medical officer for various companies in the Veneto and Trentino Alto Adige region. From 2009 to 2014 I attended the Ayurvedic Point School in Milan. Since 2022 I have been the Ayurveda Center of Hotel Caesius in Bardolino. "
Why choose Ayurveda?
“I passionately practise the millennia-old science of Ayurveda, helping my patients to find their
balance of body and mind. In fact, by determining the constitutional type and the alteration of the doshas, it is possible to individually tailor diet, lifestyle, daily habits and physical treatments to restore perfect health and total harmony with people and the environment.”
What made you want to learn more about Ayurvedic medicine?
"My first encounter with the world of Ayurveda was as a patient, and on that occasion, I could experience first-hand the
benefits of Ayurvedic medicine. For this reason, I decided to begin my studies, which took me to India and made me immerse in the wide world of this fascinating discipline."
Why choose the Caesius for Ayurvedic treatments?
"The Caesius offers the unique opportunity to enjoy a comprehensive Ayurveda experience, which means dedicating several days in a row not only to Ayurveda cuisine and phytotherapy but also to various treatments, aimed at finding inner balance, a complete journey under the guidance and supervision of experts providing quickly visible results."

What is the Ayurvedic approach to health?
Socrates once said: "I know that I know nothing", and it is with the same humility how the science of Ayurveda approaches the study of health and disease.
Despite the advances in medicine and technology, most of the rules that govern the physiology of the body are unknown to us. Just think of the mechanisms that underlie the growth and the exponential multiplication of cells in the embryo, the healing of wounds, the variation of hormonal cycles and many other self-regulations of the body that are well known in medicine and explainable in terms of growth factors, cytokines, macrophages and cellular mediators... but what is the
primum movens, the first cause? This is something that goes beyond the mind.
For this reason, when examining a sick person, the Ayurvedic doctor will have to take an accurate remote and close up medical history, a very precise objective examination, including the
analysis of tongue, pulse, skin and eyes, as well as an evaluation of the body humors. But he will also have to pay attention to non-verbal information the patient may be sending without knowing it, or to the weak point that is responsible for the whole disease process in the first place.
A disease cannot break out or deteriorate if there is no weakness or defect in a dosha or dhatu. Therefore, we can say that the Ayurvedic kind of
diagnosis is complex and holistic, encompassing body and mind and involving the spirit and self-realization, as many diseases often start in the mind, or because of an existential malaise that makes it impossible to fulfil one's dharma".
You will find this holistic approach to health and its practices at our
Ayurveda Center.
